Long-Time Friend

The stampset I have used for these cards is from the Stampin ' Up! Summer Mini catalogue. I didn't really like it when I first saw it, but have since seen so many lovely cards made using it, that I just HAD to buy it & now I LOVE it. I am in no way an artist - I think I actually failed art classes at school, so was abit worried that my limited colouring skills would not do justice to such beautiful images. But I am pleased to say that after some practice, I am pretty impressed with how they turned out.

For this first one I have used Watercolour Wonder Crayons & an aquapainter to colour. I scribbled the crayons on a piece of acetate & used the aquapainter to pick up the colours. I even had to get abit creative & mix So Saffron & Bravo Burgandy together to get the brown colours, as I only have the Rich Regals crayons - though not for much longer as I just ordered the Earth Element ones also!!!

Stampset: Long-Time Friend
Cardstock: Kraft, Buckaroo Blue, Close to Cocoa, Watercolour
Inks: Black Staz-on, Choc Chip
Accessories: Watercolour Wonder Crayons, Hodgepodge, Wide & Narrow Choc Grosgrain

This next card uses the spotlighting technique. I have coloured the image using markers & an aquapainer this time.

Stampset: Long-Time Friend
Cardstock: Sage Shadow, Perfect Plum, Choc Chip, Whisper White
Inks: Black Staz-on, Choc Chip
Accessories: Wide Choc Grosgrain Ribbon, Paper Peircer, Daubers, 1 1/4 & 1 3/8 Circle Punches, Stampin' Write Markers

I am discovering that I like challenges & am producing some of my best work from them. My newest favourite card is from an INKlings team cyberstamp, run by my talented upline Jayne. We were challenged to use a sketch from Tami's website that looked like this ......
& here is what I came up with ...

Stampset: Bareback (thanks to my cool nephew Ashley for the loan )

Cardstock: Buckaroo Blue, Really Rust, Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa

Inks: Brown Staz-On, Versamark, Choc Chip

Accessories: Eyelets, Dauber, Markers & Aquapainter

Thanks for taking a look, I hope you like it as much as I do, though I'm sure I'll have another favourite new card soon!

Scrapbooking

Oops, it's abit after tomorrow - I got sidetracked yesterday. Here is the scrapbooking I promised!

I haven't been doing much scrapbooking lately, I've been having too much fun making cards! I have also been having trouble knowing where to start, so I used a sketch from Page Maps for this one & am quite happy with how it turned out. Colours used are Sahara Sand, Choc Chip & Cameo Coral (matched perfectly with Josie's top!). The DSP I have used is from Spring Flowers & Notations (Notations is no longer available, I hope it makes the next catty though as I also have the matching stamp set!). I stamped the title using Big Deal & Typeset Lower Alpha. For the journalling I used Everyday Flexible Phrases & Expressive Flexible Phrases stamped in Whisper White along with a white gel pen for afew extra words.

Here is abit of a closer look. I need to get my photos reprinted as I think I have used the wrong paper, you can see on the edges of some where the ink has lifted - looks kinda dodgy!

I used a dauber to sponge choc chip ink around the edges of the Sahara Sand & made the scalloped paper using a corner rounder punch with the guard removed. Do you like my stitching? It is faux - but looks pretty real if I do say so myself ;)

All the products I have used are Stampin' Up! & are available through me, so if you are interested send me an email - alana@aussiebroadband.com.au Thanks for stopping by, hope you have a great day!

Birthday Girl & Jumping Jerry..

As you can probably tell by the title, this post is abit off topic, although I will include a card! On the weekend my little girl turned two - she had such a lovely day. As usual she was spoilt rotten & got too many presents, but she loved them all, especially all her new jewellery & clothes.

Here she is with her Dad, brother & the cake I made for her. I was quite pleased with how it turned out as I am not a real flash cook & it looked just like the pic in the book (well almost!). Can you see the shine Josie's face? It is from some lipgloss she was given - it goes everywhere except her lips!
For the past month Josie has been asking for a 'pink dinosaur' for her birthday. I couldn't find one & thought a pink dinosaur cake was too difficult to make, so decided she could have a pink elephant card instead. Luckily she loved the card & I also got her a Pink Dorothy the Dinosaur nightie, so she was happy. I have used the Wild About You, Riveting & Birthday Whimsy stamp sets, some Loves Me Paper & Flirty ribbons. Colours are Regal Rose & Tempting Turquoise, I also added Stampin' Glitter to the balloon & elephant for abit of sparkle

Jerry is the kids dog, she is a minature foxy X pug X something else, & is the best little dog. She follows the kids everywhere, including the trampoline! We have one of the round tramps with the net around it & the kids are on it all the time. I'm sure the dog first jumped up to finish off some left over food, but now she jumps up all the time & runs around on it with the kids - it is very cute.

Thanks for checking out my blog, I will be back tomorrow with some pictures of my latest scrapbooking pages :-)

Stationary giftset

There's been afew swaps going around, so I challenged myself to join another one. This time a 'gift' swap - I made a stationary set using the beautiful Recollections Designer Series Paper. It included a pencil tin, bookmark, post-it note holder & another of my covered notebooks.

Here's abit of a closer look at each item. The tin was a soup can (I think) & I used my fabulous tupperware can opener to open it. I am not affiliated with them at all, but do love how it opens the can without leaving any sharp edges on either the can, or the lid. After washing, I covered the can in some DSP, added abit of ribbon & stuck on a flower from the Wild Rose stamp set. This bookmark is one of my new favourite things to make. It was really easy too, I just used my 1 1/4 & 1 3/8 circle punches to punch out some cardstock & stuck them together using afew pop-up glue dots. Make sure that you have one glue dot above the top of the paperclip & one below, to keep it in place. The little rosebud is also from the Wild Rose stamp set.

The post-it note holder was also fun to make. I covered a chipboard square, once again with the Recollections DSP, tied on some ribbon & added another flower from the Wild Rose set. As you can probably see, the Wild Rose stamp set is designed to match the Recollections DSP - I just love it! I also covered a fold back clip that I got from our local newsagents, to hold the post-it notes in place.
More DSP for the notebook & some wide grosgrain ribbon stapled on for the pages tabs. I also used the Typeset Lower Alphabet for the lettering on the front. If you missed my tutorial on how to cover these notebooks using the Stampin' Up! spiral punch, then click here!
Thanks for checking out my giftset, if you have anyother questions on how anything was made, or the products I have used, please send me an email & I will get back to you - alana@aussiebroadband.com.au

A Note of Love

I made this card for a cyberstamp last weekend. I used the Rough Texture Jumbo Stampin' Around Wheel in real red for the background, then also in whisper white on real red cardstock for the strip at the bottom. The hearts are from the Time Well Spent stamp set, it is not available until April as it is a level 3 hostess set in the new catalogue. The sentiment is from the SAB set Lots of Thoughts - you can get this set for free if you spend $100 before the end of February. I will be back soon with a longer post & the details for my Sale-a-Bration Party I will be having next weekend!
